Autism Services


An Overview of Autism Services

Abilities Network Autism Services enables individuals with autism to function as meaningfully and independently as possible in their homes and community, while providing their families with the strategies and resources necessary to assist their children in reaching their maximum potential. Autism Services provides family training, transition planning into adult services, and after school therapeutic integration programming.

 

What services are provided through Autism Services?

  • Family Training: Based on an individualized plan, each family receives on-going support and training regarding treatment plans, behavior interventions, skills training and use of equipment.

  • Adult Life Planning: Technical assistance and support for young adults on the autism spectrum, and their families, to develop an individualized plan, with specific interventions, to prepare for the transition from school based services to the adult service delivery system.
  • After School Therapeutic Integration: Designed to meet the recreational and social needs of children who receive autism waiver services by providing after school care to students between the ages of 7 and 21 years old with opportunities to develop social skills in a group setting with their peers.

What are the outcomes supported by Autism Services?

  • To achieve goals based on the child's abilities and needs

  • To increase opportunities for expanding meaningful experiences in the community by reinforcing social, recreational and integrated skills

  • To assist each family in developing and implementing the structures to be successful in the home

 

What are the costs of Autism Services?

Who are the Abilities Network Autism Services staff?

Abilities Network provides highly qualified staff to work in collaboration with the individuals and his/her family. Training for these counselors includes:

  • Completion of the Autism Training Series approved by the Office of Child Care;

  • Training in Non-Violent Crisis Prevention and Intervention;

  • CPR and First Aid training;

  • CPR and First AID training;

  • Ongoing monthly training, keeping pace with new teaching strategies, and

  • On-site supervision of counselor/ child interactions.

 

 

 Services are provided to select areas across Maryland.
