Parent to Parent

What is the Parent to Parent Network?

The Parent to Parent Network has been established for parents whose child has a disability. It is based on the nationally recognized Parent to Parent model that was formed in the early 70’s by a mother of a child with Down’s Syndrome. There are over 650 programs in the nation today helping to provide parents of a child with a disability ways to connect and support each other.

What are the benefits for joining the Parent to Parent Network?

Parents whose child has just received a new diagnosis or who are in a transition time often feel helpless and alone. “Veteran” parents know the joys, concerns and frustrations of raising a child with special needs. With training and support they can share their valuable experiences and help empower other parents with the skills and information they need to advocate for their child.
